COMMODITY GRAIN TRADER & PURCHASER

Grasslands Recruitment Specialists has been engaged to recruit a Commodity Grain Trader & Purchaser for a newly created opportunity to lead the sourcing, contracting, and supply management of grain and feed ingredients within a stable and growing agricultural organization.

A DAY IN THE LIFE OF THE COMMODITY GRAIN TRADER & PURCHASER

You will be responsible for sourcing and procuring key feed ingredients while actively monitoring commodity markets and executing trades aligned with company objectives. This role combines market analysis, contract negotiation, and risk management through the use of hedging strategies to support cost-effective purchasing decisions. In addition, the individual will build and maintain strong supplier relationships, coordinate logistics to ensure consistent ingredient supply, and collaborate closely with internal teams to align procurement activities with production and nutritional requirements.

AM I A GOOD FIT FOR THIS UNIQUE OPPORTUNITY?

  • Proven experience in commodity trading, grain procurement, agricultural merchandising, or a related area
  • Strong understanding of grain markets, pricing dynamics, and risk management strategies, including futures, options, and basis
  • Demonstrated ability to negotiate contracts and build effective supplier relationships within the agricultural sector
  • Analytical capability to interpret market data, trends, and financial metrics to support trading and purchasing decisions
  • Post-secondary education in Agriculture, Agribusiness, Business, Economics, or a related field preferred, with equivalent industry experience considered
