A DAY IN THE LIFE OF THE ASSISTANT MAINTENANCE MANAGER
A day in the life of an Assistant Maintenance Manager involves a dynamic blend of safety enforcement, technical oversight, and team leadership. The day begins with ensuring all safety policies, procedures, and certifications are up to date, followed by conducting audits and inspections to proactively identify risks. The role includes planning and executing preventive and predictive maintenance, monitoring key metrics, and troubleshooting complex mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic systems to keep equipment running smoothly. Managing work schedules to align with production demands, maintaining accurate records through digital systems, and leading a team with clear guidance and mentorship are central to the day. Continuous improvement is a constant focus, from integrating best practices and new technologies to collaborating across departments and supporting capital projects—making each day a balance of hands-on technical work and strategic leadership.
AM I A GOOD FIT FOR THIS UNIQUE OPPORTUNITY?
- Proven experience implementing and managing preventive and predictive maintenance strategies.
- Demonstrated leadership, strong problem-solving abilities, and excellent organizational skills.
- Capable of performing under pressure in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment, including responding to urgent maintenance issues.
- Familiarity with industrial safety standards and best practices in workplace safety.
- Skilled in interpreting technical drawings, schematics, and equipment manuals.
- In-depth understanding of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
- Prior experience working with grain facility equipment such as extruders, mixers, and hammermills is a valuable asset.
