NATIONAL SALES AGRONOMIST- BIOLOGICAL CROP INPUTS

Grasslands Recruitment Specialists is recruiting a full-time, remote National Sales Agronomist for a growing and pioneering Canadian firm in the field of sustainable agriculture, bringing biological solutions for a healthier environment for all. The primary objective of this position is to execute a customer contact program to generate and maintain sales volume within the trading area while managing strategic relationships with internal and external customers. ABOUT OUR CLIENT

Our client is the Canadian presence of an international firm dedicated to providing biological solutions for pest control and optimizing the health of plants and pollinators. Their goal is to replace chemical pesticides with appropriate biological alternatives, such as microbial products, natural substances, beneficial insects, and traps. Over 30 years ago, the company started their first production of plant protection products; today, it has been widely recognized that the use of biological control measures offers not only a solution to organic agriculture, but also a highly effective tool within integrated or conventional pest management programs for environmentally friendly and residue-free food production. A DAY IN THE LIFE OF THE NATIONAL SALES AGRONOMIST

This role is quite flexible, and every day can focus on different needs/tasks. Using the CRM you will be expected to update/add leads based on projections but also as they appear. Direct sales calls may be performed to expand the customer base or deliver technical knowledge to support a seller. Interacting with key influencers or support personnel such as provincial specialists to inform on products or learn about a specific market. There will be a need to call on key distributors in the area to develop a relationship and support sales. During office time you will evaluate products and establish priorities based on your understanding of the market. Needs would be communicated to the Director of Sales/Sales team through weekly communications.

You will establish a budget for monetary requirements and work to adhere to the budget. Should a critical need or opportunity surface there is flexibility. During the growing season you may have ongoing demonstrations or product introductions that you have planned in addition to assisting in product development and evaluating performance trials. You can expect to be travelling as needed but it could be a large proportion of your time during certain seasonal periods.

Your first task will include developing a distribution by product strategy for key regions and identifying critical accounts, meeting the current distribution partners, and developing relations for continued support/success, as well as integrating into corporate affairs by attending key strategic meetings internationally.

AM I A GOOD FIT FOR THIS UNIQUE OPPORTUNITY?

The ideal candidate profile includes:

  • 5-7 years of experience in the industry including progressively responsible sales experience. Experience gained while working in an agriculture retail sales role is a plus.
  • Sc. Agriculture or Diploma in Agriculture, with consideration given to Environmental Studies degrees.
  • General background in agriculture obtained either by work experience or from cultural background. General knowledge of the various segments within agriculture – row crop production, horticulture, greenhouse, viticulture, fruit, and vegetable.
  • A strong sense of professional ethics to do what is right for the customer is important while representing the overall interests of the company.
  • Creativity to view an obstacle and envision a path around the obstacle, developing new approaches to apply to solutions.
  • Able to work independently and establish personal and product targets to grow themselves with the business. Long term strategist.
  • Passion about helping producers learn about biological crop input products with the overall goal to supply healthy food and healthy life vision to our customers and to consumers.
  • Positive outlook and a great sense of humour.
  • Able to forge relationships with key accounts that are beyond transactional. Key accounts become more than dollars.
